Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

After I put the CD into my CD-ROM drive of my computer, why doesn’t anything load?
Answer:

If using a Windows computer, you need to go into My Computer and choose the CD-ROM drive. It should then show the name of the cd that you purchased from us, double click to open up the CD. If using a Apple Machintosh, the CD should just appear on your desktop, double-click to open it.

The Images are Clipart. They need to be open in image reading programs on your computer. Open the image editing tool you have installed on your computer (Microsoft Word, Print Shop, Photoshop, etc).

Question:

Do I need a special color printer to achieve the quality and detail you have?
Answer:

No, most inkjet printers have the capability to print at 360 DPI or 720 DPI which is what we recommend. For best results from your printer, it is important to use high quality inkjet paper.

Question:

Do I need a special printer to print Black and White images?
Answer:

No, your Color printer has a option for this, and is easily changed. In your Print or Page Setup before you print.

Question:

Can I use copy paper and get good results?
Answer:

Copy paper is fine for printing instructions, but NOT for printing color images. We recommend a high quality inkjet paper, with a matte finish, for the best results.

Question:

Is creating items on the computer considered handcrafting?
Answer:

YES. We consider the computer to be one of the most powerful tools available to crafters.

Question:

Why is my printer cutting off part of the design?
Answer:

Change printer margins to 1/4 inch (0.25") on all sides according to your printer manual.

Question:

Why does my printer make the border side larger on one side and not the other?
Answer:

Change the printer margins to zero by going to FILE, then PAGE SETUP, and changing the left and right margins to 0". If this doesn't work, if possible, try printing on another brand or model printer.

Question:

Why does the image look faded on the screen in Microsoft Word?
Answer:

This is normal. The design will print correctly in vivid color.

Question:

The image prints too light, too dark, or in black & white. How can I change the print quality?
Answer:

Check your printer settings. To achieve best results, change your printer settings to "Color" and "Normal Quality".

Question:

How do I use printable fabric & when do I peel off the backing?
Answer:

Read the instructions for the brand and type of printable fabric as different brands have different directions. We suggest you peel off the backing before cutting, as the edges will fray less.

Question:

What type of printer and ink is best?

Answer:

Again, refer to the directions in your pack of printable fabric. The colors of every printer vary slightly, and we have taken this into consideration when designing our CDs. To ensure consistant color in your final piece, plan to print all the sheets at the same time and on the same printer. In order to maximize the color, we suggest you change your print quality setting to “BEST”.

Question:

I like your extra pattern fabrics. How can I best use them?

Answer:

We want you to be creative, and make your own unique look with these fun extras! Embellish your designs with buttons, beads, sequins, embroidery, decorative, and free-motion stitching, etc.

Question:

What format are the images presented in on the CD?

Answer:

Yes, each CD has an image index, which contains JPG files you can save to your hard drive. You may re-size PDF images using Acrobat Reader 6 (see the below instructions). You may also import a JPG file into another program and re-size it with that program.

Question:

I want to resize a PDF image, how do I do it?

Answer:

1. Open PDF containing the image you want to print.
2. Make sure you are using Adobe Acrobat 6. You can find you version number by looking under the help menu for a menu item named "About Adobe Acrobat". If you have version 4, you can install version 6 from the CD.
